Bar Screen Cleaners

Home :: Intake Screening Equipment :: Bar Screens Cleaners

A bar screen cleaner, operated either manually or automatically, is used for mechanically cleaning the bar screen using a grab carriage. A mobile bar screen cleaner can be provided for cleaning multiple channels.

The grab carriage is of anti-wedging design with guiding rollers, which runs on guide channels extending from the sump base up to top of discharge point. The guide channels are anchored to the concrete walls below the floor level.

The grab carriage travels towards the chamber bottom in an open position and closes automatically by means of a slack cable mechanism either on reaching the chamber bottom or on encountering any obstruction during its descending run. The grab travel is then reversed. The debris collected during the upward travel is retained and discharged at the operating floor level onto a conveyor or a debris collector.

The unit is designed to withstand operational loads that come into effect.

Safety switches are provided for sensing the rope slackness, grab open/close position for automatic operation of the cleaner. Necessary alarms are provided in the system for operators’ attention.

The mobile cleaner can be positioned to any particular channel for cleaning by means of proximity switches.

Three types of cable operated bar screen cleaners are available:

  Fixed type (for individual channels)
  Mobile type (for multiple channels)
Portal Track Type (for multiple channels)

The bar screen cleaner is utilized for on-line cleaning of the bar screens without any interruption to the screening operation. Salient features of the cleaners are:

  High cleaning efficiency
  No submerged drive parts
No moving parts in contact with water
  Hoisting ropes separately adjustable
  No recess inside channel required
Separate drives for hoisting and tilting
  Plastic rollers for grab movement
